Hull specifically.
So I'm back from those 2 Schengen states which consumed 11 days of my precious Easter break and burnt no less than £1300. Sure it was mostly due to bad planning and relying on people other than myself, but both countries are expensive to hang out in as tourists - Especially Spain.

I'll be providing a detailed article of my trip to Spain and Portugal with loads of pictures taken from 3 cameras mainly. I think I have a flickr account and it's time I use it properly.

Less than 13 days left till the deadline of my EU law essay, which I've read for yet still haven't started written anything for it.

My knee makes noises when it's bent

It doesn't hurt though. Well not that much.

Doesn't every Omani (who plays football) complain from knee-aches? I sort of noticed they all have it from time to time, pain in the knees. The assignment is to be handed in by the 27th and I'm not really sure how I'm gonna manage to do that - but never underestimate students under pressure, they do the impossible.
As Al-Zubair said in one of his interviews; "If you want something done, give it to a busy man". Busy men are under pressure, and certain people under pressure can give you some amazing output in terms of results. I'm proud to say that I think I'm one of them - but what follows after this amazing output is a mental breakdown for a couple of weeks.
Let's hope they're no more than 13 weeks!

しあわせ な はは の ひ - Happy Mothers day

Reminder for those who forgot; it's mothers day. Send her a nice e-mail or a message. If she's in the same country as you, send her some flowers. I'm sure she'll appreciate it. I chose the message option since who knows if my mom is going to open her e-mail today or not.

When's the other 'special' days? I'm sure there's more than 13 of them.

Edit: Resident Evil 5 is out. Quite tempted to get it but can't waste too much time on it as I've lots of work to hand in right before and after the Easter break. >_>

おもしろい - Interesting

Now that's what I call being creative with photography

Photographers aren't usually as creative as Swedish designer Erik Johansson, who managed to pull off amazing results with photographs he has taken by himself followed by editing them in Photoshop. Its not a movie that can only be appreciated by a specific group of people, but rather by everyone. As opposed to Watchmen, a recreation in the form of a movie of the most celebrated comic in history according to many. Simply say, its by DC comics, who made Batman. However, it was way too hyped up, and if you ask me, Watchmen isn't a movie to watch (Unless if you fancy naked blue men*).

Lets hope I avoid awful movies from now on and produce more than 13 drawings this year.

* One of the main characters in Watchmen, known as Dr. Manhattan, was almost always naked in the movie with all of his packages being quite clear - Heck I would've mistaken the movie for a porno if I saw it on tv. A creepy porno with bald glowing men.

もったいない - What a waste

Its a shame I haven't updated this blog in ages since I thought that no one would be interested in it (including me) and might as well have left its flame slowly die away until no one remembers about the fact that I had a blog in the past.
However consistency and discipline are necessary - which are, as you can guess, features I lack. With blogging I thought I might gain some of these important features so here I go again with blogging.

What a waste. Seriously

I'm usually careful with spending money, partly to have some left at the end of the month, but mostly to avoid spending money unnecessarily (which is one of those many things taught to us by the religion of Islam). Spending money on things I want but not need is somethings that has dramatically changed with me, with focus more onto the 'need' part as opposed to the 'want'.
I hate it when people prepare way too much food with no plans of storing what's left of it in the fridge but rather throw away all that's left. Again, What a waste. At least give it some kittens or dogs, however no goldfish; as these things don't know when to stop eating, and if you put way too much for them, they will die from eating way too much. Fact.
Prepare for some consistency from this blog for the next 13 months. I've got an essay to hand in as well on 21st January. No worries, plenty of time till then! I'm not going back to Oman in the Christmas break either - even more time.

So what has happened since you last posted?

I got much more used to Hull. To the rate that going back to Oman doesn't sound so appealing anymore. I also realized what I find important to be comfortable in here, such as a clean kitchen (I have to clean it myself quite often), big TV and a channel receiver, background noise, leaving the house every day or two, and seeing my friends every single day. That's what's on top of my mind right now, but I guess there's lots more.
You might think that what I've listed are obvious things that I should know instinctively, but unfortunately I didn't since I never admired what I always had around me in Oman - Noise, friends and a clean kitchen! When I didn't get to have those things on a daily basis anymore, I realized how important they are to me.

Living away from your parents does teach you a lot!

Games I love to play:
- Train your brain (DS): It's about doing simple calculations and other simple games which require you to rev up your brains a little! Really fun, and even better, it's actually useful since it "activates your prefrontal cortex" and gets your brain more active!
- PES 2009 (PS3): At first, just like everyone else, I wasn't comfortable with it. But as I got used to it, this game has become as addicting as bananas (which I'm addicted to if you haven't guessed already). Really great game for those football lovers.

Games I want to play:
- Assassins Creed (PS3): Even though I played some of it, I really want to play it till the very end, since it's such a good game. But I just never get the time nor mood for it.
- Prince of Persia (PS3): The latest Prince of persia, which apparently is going to be released here in within 42 hours I think. It looks like a great game, but a time consuming one as well. Not something to look forward to when I'm supposed to be studying, but it's too good to miss out on!
- Kingdom hearts 2 (Ps2): I finished this game once before, but since it's one of the most beautiful games I ever played, I want to jut play it over and over again. It's like a sanctuary from reality (not that I need one), and magical. Ah just thinking about it made me want to listen to its OST (Original Sound Track)!

Don't let sleeping take more than 13 hours of your day!

Windows 7

Some of you may have heard about the upcoming windows software that will replace the current Windows Vista, which many of you tech-savvies hate. Windows XP is currently the most popular Windows software which remains simple to use and does not choose appearance over efficiency, as opposed to Windows Vista. Why do I know? I've both windows XP and Vista, and Vista is always much more slower and difficult to use, even though its on a laptop that has 2 GHz Clock speed 2 GB RAM memory, and the laptop doesn't have that much programs installed in it either! Not to mention that its compatibility mode (it can trick programs into thinking they're being used by XP, 2000, NT or '98, when they're actually being used by Vista) is crap.

Hmm, I barely understood any of that, you see - As long as it works and I can open Microsoft office and Youtube Videos on it, it's all good! Well that's what I tend to listen from people who couldn't care less if their windows was XP or Vista. But eventually, even those people tend to get annoyed by how complicated Vista can get for the most simplest tasks.

For example, my mom tried to open the calculator that's usually in the accessories category in Windows XP start menu. It took her 30 minutes to find out how she can access it in her newly replaced PC with Windows Vista!

Anyways, less ranting, and to the more interesting news: The latest batch of Windows 7 screenshots have surfaced, and from the looks of it, it pretty much has the Vista cover with much more tweaks than its prior one that should supposedly end (or atleast reduce) the Vista rant.

A few more pictures of Windows 7:

Lets hope Windows 7 isn't as slow as the current Vista, requiring a simple 1.2 GHz and 512 MB RAM laptop to take 13 minutes to load!

LED + Wireless = The future!

Yes yes yes, this is what the future is!
Not ridiculously huge HD plasma TVs that reach to the size of over 100 inches.

What's being shown in the picture above is an LED Sony 11" TV, with integrated wireless settings - hence there's no need for all the wires (Not sure if it runs on battery or wireless signals that supply it with energy - That'd be cool too!).

Yuseff, what an amateur mistake! It's LCD not LED!! Nop, Its LED which stands for Light Emitting Diodes. Turns out Physics was a little useful after all! Anyways, the technology in TVs is now more focused onto LED rather than Plasmas and LCDs, 'cause LED TVs suck up less electricity AND are thinner - just look at the left side of the picture, its paper thin! The reason why LED TVs haven't dominated the TV market as of yet is because it's still not complete. I hear its biggest size as a TV is approximately 15-inches. Now that's smaller than a typical laptop monitor! (which is around 15.4-inches). So until that's resolved, LED TVs wont create that much of an impact.
The other feat is the wireless. Paper thin TVs with a wireless system (hence reducing the horrible mess behind TVs) is one of those things that make life simpler than it is now.

I'm not sure if this is just another Sony TV experiment or a product that'll be released in the near future, but if Sony keeps on focusing on those two feats for TVs, they'll take today's TVs to the next level!

2 down, around 2 more to go!

Been ridiculously busy doing errands and arranging the basement to suit the gatherings that occur very often in Ramadan. Its usually an honor to get to invite family or friends for Iftar over at your place, but no matter how I see it, it's plain exhausting! I've invited my friends for Iftar once, so I'm done with that, and today was my cousins marriage, which would sound funny, but it basically happened in the basement!

Of course by basement I don't mean those poorly lit stores filled with dusts and spider webs, or a typical room of a teenager that's just a pure mess - I mean a whole huge fancy marbled floor, but we just tend to call it the basement since its paritally underground (It always sounds cool that way haha).

Uhm, anyways... The marriage happened, it was loud, it was filled with food, people and noise! The good thing is that I got to use my camera a little and got a few good photos - or so I think. So its not all bad.
Well 2 more to go, 1 of them being another friend gathering Iftar, and the other being my fathers freinds' gathering for Iftar.
I think my knees are either aching or its just me exhausted, either way I need my sleep which i'll be getting in hopefully less than thirteen minutes.

Hmm more updates

Decided to update things a little more often than once a month or two. Its funny how I get pissed off when I see a blog that hasn't been updated in a week, yet couldn't care less if my own blog hasn't been updated for over a month. I'm such a hypocrite!

So what's new:

For the first time ever, I've invited my friends over for Iftar (Breaking the fast + dinner for Ramadan).

The Naruto Manga chapter 415 is out!

Played Call of Duty 4 for the first time ever, real fun. Can't wait till I play it online.

I realised how important Nintendo Wii is when you have a gathering of friends which don't have much to talk about. (3-4 friends would be just right, anymore and it might feel a little akward).

I'm running out of space on my External Hardrive. Really need a new one pretty soon.

Checked out a new anime I have in my unwatched anime folder. Its called Capeta. And its GOLD! Its when I see animes like these that I remember why I love anime so much.

Google Chrome sounds like the new fuss lately, makes me want to check it out later on.

Finished reading Who moved my Blackberry & Memoirs of a Geisha (the movie wasn't as good as the book). Douglas Couplands' Microserfs looks like its next.

Hobbies & you

Anyways, 'nuff latest news & lets talk about something useful!
The other day my dad was telling me: "Its your hobbies that define your personality when you grow up".
And after putting some thought to it, I realised: Well he is right to some extent. A personality with no hobbies is a dull passive personality if you ask me, as opposed to a personality thats fired up when it comes to hobbies and never gives up on them. Of course I'd like to be the latter personality within reasonable bounds. I wouldn't want to be so absurdly caught up in my hobbies that I wouldn't care anymore about my surroundings, nor do I want to be a person with no hobbies. Hence, as I've been taught and as I always say: "خير الأمور الوسط" a.k.a "The best is the middle of it".
So after that, I started to brainstorm: What are my hobbies? And the answers flowed as smooth as water! Drawing, Photography, Computer stuff, gaming and anime. Some of my friends argued that anime and gaming don't count as hobbies, but I still can't see as to why they don't count as hobbies.
Unfortunately, I'm not taking good enough care of my hobbies, and hence not constistently practicing them, but after putting some thought into it I decided I should start to take those hobbies much more seriously than I have in the past, 'cause its those simple things that define who I am, if you will.

But Yuseff, hobbies won't be useful when you start working to earn money.
Good point, but who said work is everything. You don't have to be working for Marvel comics if your hobbies involve drawing, nor do you have to take fancy Advertisement photos (see The Wave ads) just so you can practice your hobby of photography. What I'm trying to say is that just 'cause you enjoy something, it doesn't mean you're going to be stuck in that field for your entire life, even if you get fed up of it.
On a personal note; my parents didn't want me studying accounting nor law (which is what I applied for before going to university), since they found me so intereted in computer-related matters and web-designing. They tried to suggest to me to take IT or something within that field to the rate that it felt more like forcing rather than suggesting. But I knew I didn't want to spend the rest of my life in front of a computer screen, I want to learn other things and become less ignorant and more knowledgeable. However, I still love computers and will remain on loving that stuff. And just 'cause I'm taking law, it doesn't mean I should forget my hobbies and try finding me a hobby thats closer to my field of study.

Anyways, enough stuffing you with my point of view and more sleep, since its thirteen minutes past 6 am!

Ramadan IceKareem!

Ladies & Gentleman, its Ramadan!

(I took this picture from the internet, not done by me)

Its Ramadan once again, and what does make this month so special? The insane offers that start appearing in the forms of sms on your phone all day long, the insane-er driving, the filled parking lots in the mosques and all the new TV shows.
Fortunately for me, I'll be staying all of Ramadan (and the Eid too!) in Oman, since university starts a little late for me, hence making my summer holiday the longest ever! (4 months and 1 day!!), but the busiest as well.
I've done so much this summer, I'm actually surprised of my usually lazy self. Examples include, doing half of my moms desertation for her Masters, doing the Lasik Operation for my eyes, doing the endoscope operation for my stomach acidity, reading so many books, running so many errands, making my new room (which was a store) live-able and lots of other things.
I also noticed that this was the most expensive summer so far, and by that I mean I've spent much money in it than in any summer! Things on top of my head include the 2 fancy camera lens, nintendo Wii, a huge-ass tv, nawras 3g and a new computer!

Yes, lots has happened over the summer, yet not much has been achieved (unfortunately), I really wanted to draw a lot more than I have (did only 1 decent drawing), wanted to take much more photos (took approximately 1000 pictures at best), wanted to un-rust my photoshop skills, since I haven't designed anything in ages! (did nothing at all this summer!) and read much more books than I already have (read only 4 out 11 books).

Anyways enough complaints, no-one enjoys reading them. Anyways, I'm out of time since I've gotta be at grandmas' in thirteen minutes!

My new theory

13

Again, it's been forever since I last posted.
But then again, I never promised to post consistently.

So a summary of what has happened since my last post:
I've finished my exams and passed with flying colors. Bring it on 2nd year!

I'm back in Oman for the summer, and I'm enjoying it so far. Parents some times can be a nuisance, but most of the time they're fun to be with.

I went to Dubai once so far, with approximately another 10 guys, all of which are students I graduated with from the Sultan's school. Took lots of pictures and had fun.

I went to Jabal Al Akhdar (the green mountain), with a few of my friends who study in the same university as me. It's a trip that'll remain a memory worth remembering. Took around 400 pictures haha.

I did the Lasik operation, and now I no longer wear glasses. I have to be careful with my eyes nowadays, but soon enough I'll be able to relax just like any other person!

So what have I been up to nowadays? Well I've been heading to the gym on an almost daily basis, and trying to keep my food healthy when I can. Oh and watching plenty of anime as usual. But what I'll talk about in this post is my new theory: Masturbation is the cause of baldness in men.

Woah Yuseff, thats a sensetive topic! Yes, but I could care less, and if my theory could be of any use to anyone, then why care about the trivial matters?

So yes, masturbation, also known as the secret habit (العادة السرية) and so on. I'm sure many of you know what I'm talking about. Well as most of us know, in the religion of Islam, it's forbidden to masturbate. But some of us nowadays ignore that completely, stating that to keep themselves away from having sex, they masturbate. I can understand, after all, anyone can figure out that masturbation is a lesser evil when compared to sex. After all sex can bring about unwanted children and aids, while masturbation surely doesn't. Masturbation can also be kept a secret, while sex must involve another person and can eternally scar your reputation if found out.

We've all been taught how significantly wrong it is to have sex until marriage. Sure other people say as long as there are no children and they haven't gotten aids, then it would be okay to have sex. Even so, the religion of Islam forbids sex, and I'm not planning on defying that. So why masturbation as well? How is a man to keep himself intact if he is to stay away from both? Lust is a part of us, humans, after all!

Well sure if you google something along the lines of "is masturbation healthy for us?" you'd get results stating that masturbation is a completely healthy process and there's nothing wrong about it. However, that is not true (even though i'd like it to be so), masturbation increases DHT levels in the human body. DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) is a metobolite of the hormone Testosterone. When the DHT levels in the body are higher than they should be, hence overloaded, they cause baldness. DHT levels can be increased by stress as well, meaning stress as well is a factor that causes baldness, but not on the same level as masturbation, which is more of a cause than stress. In simple english, the more you masturbate, the more you cause your DHT levels to increase, and the more they do, the balder you'll get.

HOWEVER, DHT is not all bad! DHT is more useful than not, but its DHT levels' overload that are bad. Some might argue, stating that masturbation can relieve the body of certain chemicals and rebalance the hormone levels and lots of other factors which have been proved scientifically. I won't say no, however the human body has already solved this problem as we have been taught in our religion, and that is by it having a wet dream, where the body ejects fluids that rebalance hormones and all of the mentioned above. By doing so, the human body can remain under control and there'd be no need for masturbation when it comes to scientific stuff.

The real challenge is the lust. Can a person not have sex and not masturbate as well? Our society obviously does not aid this idea, but the answer remains yes for me. When there is a will, there is a way. The lust is a challenge sent to us from God. Can we control our lustful desires? If so, we have won this challenge and attained the heavens as a reward, but if not, be sure that we will have commited many sins.

Another fact worth mentioning is that baldness is not entirely dependant on masturbation alone. There is as well the Male Pattern Baldness Gene that we must take into account. It is the primary cause of baldness, and is often attained from either the mothers family gene pool or from the father himself, not the fathers family. Hence if you noticed that your hair is thinning even though your diet is healthy and you take good care of your health, then stop masturbating, it will slow down the process if not entirely stop it.
In conclusion, don't masturbate! its forbidden and will make you bald!

Thats my theory I guess, and if you're wondering why I've been putting too much thought into this, it is because I want to convince myself that masturbation is forbidden for a reason and to keep myself away from it. Man this post took alot more than thirteen minutes!

Easter Break

It's been quite a while since I last updated.

Apologize? I see no reason why I should do so.

Oh. Well at the very least, a reason? Well it was the Easter break and as I had mentioned in my previous post, I'll be visiting my cousin in Canada. Unfortunately for me, internet wasn't as accessible as I had wanted it to be, hence I could not keep my self updated in the internet world even I wanted to.

Canada eh? How was the trip? Every trip has its goods and bads, but I'm glad that for the first time ever, I managed to do the 'tourism' part at my pace. Yes I know you might be wondering what am I blabbering about. Well then allow me to elaborate: I was never the fan of travelling and exploring the world. I love to have enough sleep, followed by just laying low on the couch and watching TV most of the day. Once my mood is set for some tourism, only then will I leave the TV and visit wherever. In other words, only once I feel like doing some tourism, can I be at my pace, not in contrast feeling dragged and forced to visit places I never really wanted to visit. This is probably one of the primary reasons as to why I hate traveling. The optimum pace that I have mentioned is what Canada was all about to me, and even though it meant less places to visit within the time limit, it granted on the other hand endless comfort and joy.

Anyways, so it's April 13th. My younger sisters' birthday is running close and unfortunately for both us, I won't be able to be there. To make it up for her, I need find her something she'd love as a present. No worries though, as long as its pink and princess-ish, she'll love it. Only by following such criteria have I managed to get her presents that made her tiny body dance in joy. (What is up with me using 'joy' to end my sentences?)
However, April 13th also signals my exam sessions drawing up close, 'cause in less than a month, I'll be sitting my first final exam for this year. Right now I'm having mixed feelings towards that day. The reason being my impatience to head back to Oman in the summer, because by starting my exams, I'd be sure to know that there won't be anything other than partying and packing up going on. Not studying.

I'm currently reading a book recommended by Blue-Chi, named Jpod.I've only read a quarter of it and theres only one thing I can say so far, I'm lovin' it. -- Yes I stole McDonalds quote.

For whoever has his exams drawing up close or is already engulfed in that period, good luck and try keeping your mind focused when studying for atleast thirteen minutes.

Easter Break

It's Easter break!

The holidays granted by universities for Easter break vary from one uni to another in here, for example, while my holiday is 3 weeks, my friend on the other hand who is a 1st year law student as well, however in another uni, has been given 5 weeks for this holiday.

I don't mind though, 'cause I'll be making my easter holiday 4 weeks =P.

How you ask? Simple. Just skip one week after the end of the holiday.

More importantly, I noticed most of my friends studying abroad will be going back to Oman for the Easter break, even though they've been back to Oman for the Christmas holiday. As for me, I won't, instead I'll be heading to Canada, where my cousin and a few of my friends live/study. But even if I hadn't planned to go to Canada, I still wouldn't have gone back to Oman.

Why you ask? Just like everyone else, yes I miss my home country, the warm (probably hot by now) weather, and so on. But it's only been 8 weeks since I last visited home (during the Christmas holiday), and going back so soon will make me feel like I never really experienced the being-away-from-home experience that by which i can gain independence. Even if I went back to Oman during this holiday, my parents wouldn't have missed me, instead i'd be getting a 'eh? why are you back so soon? did something happen in uni?' reaction from them.

Other than traveling, I'd love to do some catching-up on my studies (that's about 500 pages of reading by now) and play Devil may cry 4, a game I've been craving to play but haven't gotten the chance to.

What have I been busy with you ask? Nothing serious really, just sleeping and watching lots of j-drama. Oh and I cleaned some plates today as well, hah. If I just do my laundry, I will have made today a productive day (something I don't experience much).

Anyways! enjoy your Easter break, atleast thirteen minutes of it.

About me

Welcome dear viewers and fellow bloggers,

Allow me to introduce myself,

Online, I'm known as yuseff, mello, yu, seff and so on. Being interested in art and photoshop ever since I was 13, I frequented webdesigning for various websites, mostly anime-focused ones. However because of the severe lack of practice recently, I no longer excel in the use of photoshop, nor html coding and such. I also am an anime fanatic (japanese cartoons), as well as being extremely interesed in the japanese culture. I spend lots of time downloading/watching anime or j-drama (japanese TV shows which aren't necessarily drama). I'm picky about the quality of the anime I watch, hence finding and downloading such anime episodes may prove difficult. However, being on an 8mbps internet connection as well as relying on the sacred lolipower, provides an ever-increasing load of unlicensed anime, I can easily download anime non-stop. At this very moment, my anime folder has reached the size of 628 GB so far. haha

Offline, my given name is Yousuf Al-Busaidi. A full fledged Omani, born in 1989 and lived most of my life there. I have graduated from the Sultan's school and am a first year law student in the University of Hull, UK, on a full scholarship. No, I'm not smart and no I don't enjoying reading anything on paper, however I love reading on a monitor (odd, yes I know). I can be extremely lazy at times or the most fired up depending on my mood. I enjoy gaming, football, photography, watching and drawing anime. I am also interested in languages, so far I'm half-way done with Japanese, and hopefully the next language I plan on studying is French.

Don't be expecting much out of this blog (who does anyways?), for it contains nothing but nonsensical blabbers that are inconsistent which revolve around nothing but random thoughts, in thirteen minutes.
